the name of this website is listless dot info, and i have had it for some years now, and it has been many things in that time. at first it was a place for me to experiment with web design, then it was a place to hold my online vita, then it was a home base for my freelance consulting practice, then it became sort of a blog, then it definitely became a blog, then its progression ceased. in 2005 i stopped and took a look at listless dot info and was struck by how much it looked and acted like a livejournal page or a blogger site and i thought 'why am i paying for my own domain and hosting when this is all i am doing?' after all, i remember 1996. i remember when personal websites were a lot more

i remember when it was cool to know how to make a web site. i remember taking all kinds of time to make sites that reflected the personality of a client or business or band, or to make a site that showed off what i knew about working with the web, and i remember getting that great voyeuristic thrill the first time i spent some time really exploring someone else's site, someone who had also put lots of time into building a unique, self-expressive site, and so i thought, 'why am i doing so little with so much?'
of course, i had no answer. so listless dot info has been rebuilt into the site you see now. it makes me much happier.
